When not wearing the required Mithril Academy uniform and/or Fatigues, Kurz prefers to wear nice, but casual clothes, and often accessorizes lightly, accenting whatever he may be wearing with either a necklace or ring. He also can pull off high-end formal clothing when needed, whether it's for missions or otherwise.
Though mostly thought of as nothing but a shameless flirt due to his antics, Kurz has quite the serious side when it comes to his job and the events that have shaped his life. He enjoys having fun when he can, whether it be a prank or simply hanging out with his fellow soldiers in the bar at Merida Base. A very loyal and dedicated person, Kurz knows when to buckle down to get a job done, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to help keep his team mates alive when crap hits the fan.

Born in Tokyo on April 1, 1978, Kurz was raised in Edogawa, Tokyo, Japan, attending a normal public school in the area until the age of 14. After his first year in middle school, his parents, who were reporters, were killed in a bombing. Kurz ran away while the authorities were still attempting to discover any living relatives, burning with a need to get revenge for his parents. Showing an almost unnatural aptitude for shooting, he was later taken under the tutelage of Casper, one of the world's most deadly snipers. He practiced under Casper for two years, until while on a job, Kurz refused to sacrifice the life of a little girl who was in the way of a target. Unfortunately, the girl was gravely injured after the completion of the job, leaving deep emotional scars on Kurz, and ultimately lead to him leaving Casper's tutelage and attempting to find his way as a freelance sniper and mercenary. However, even with his capabilities, it was difficult for him to get work without Casper's assistance. Hiring a few detectives on his own, he was able to get in contact with his last surviving family member, his father's only sister, Judith Weber, who lived overseas in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kurz stayed with his Aunt Judy for only a few months, as it seemed that he just wasn't happy being 'normal' anymore. Realizing that normal school probably wouldn't help her nephew find any sort of peace, Judy searched around, and eventually discovered Mithril Academy. While touring the facilities, Kurz was given the opportunity to join in with their regular shooting range practice. With the shooting instructor thoroughly impressed, and her nephew truly happy for the first in a long while, Judy enrolled him and saw him off the following semester. Unfortunately, due to the time Kurz had spent training with Casper, he had to make up his academic credits. Still, at least in the academy, he would be able to receive the education he had missed out on, as well as improve his other skills.
